Asian Games 2026 Aichi-Nagoya — India's medal tally after Day 10
India’s medal count at Aichi-Nagoya 2026 has climbed past 40 by Day 10.
⚡ Quick Summary: Ten days into Aichi-Nagoya 2026, India had 37 medals after Day 9 (4 gold, 16 silver, 17 bronze). Reports on Tuesday, September 29 put the tally between 45 and 47 after a Day 10 shooting haul, including a reported trap gold for Neeru Dhanda. India sit roughly 8th–12th depending on the source and the hour, because the table ranks by gold first.

Roughly two thirds of the way through the Games, India’s campaign looks very different from the shooting-only start we described in our Day 2 medal tally report. The count has climbed from six to well over forty, and the four team golds that anchored India’s Hangzhou 2023 result are back on the board.

The Four Golds So Far

A fifth gold was reported on Day 10: Neeru Dhanda in the women’s trap individual, with Neeru, Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer adding a silver in the women’s trap team event, according to Business Standard’s medal list. Other tallies published earlier that day had not yet included it, which is one reason the totals above are a range.

Standout Medals Beyond the Golds

Mirabai Chanu’s weightlifting silver (women’s 49kg) ended India’s 28-year wait for an Asian Games weightlifting medal, the last having been Karnam Malleswari’s bronze in 1998.

Seema Kumari’s bronze in the women’s 10,000m was reported as India’s first medal in the event in 16 years, and Baranica Elangovan’s bronze in the women’s pole vault was described as historic for Indian athletics.

In squash, Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh each picked up singles silvers, and Murali Sreeshankar took silver in the long jump. The javelin was less kind: Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga took the gold. Shooting has continued to deliver across rifle and pistol events, and Suchika Tariyal’s MMA bronze from Day 2 remains India’s first ever in that sport at the Games.

The Medal Table at the Top

Japan416863172
South Korea21264491

Top-three figures as reported by Business Standard on September 29. An earlier update on September 28 had China on 123 gold and 214 medals in total.

Why India’s Rank Looks Low

India’s medal count is healthy, but the Asian Games table ranks by gold medals first. India have collected far more silver and bronze than gold so far, which is why a 45-plus tally still sits outside the top ten on some tables. Every additional gold moves India up faster than several silvers would.

Context matters too. India won a record 107 medals at Hangzhou 2023 — 28 gold, 38 silver and 41 bronze — and finished fourth. With the Games running until October 4, reaching that total would need a very large final stretch, so a more realistic goal for the closing days is improving the gold count and the table position.

What to Watch in the Final Days

The remaining schedule leans heavily on India’s stronger disciplines: more athletics finals, the men’s cricket knockout rounds and hockey matches. The hockey tournaments carry extra weight because both winners qualify directly for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
